A letter to you, from Vaia
Vaia Pappas, Co-founder, Love Frequency
Sometimes, the most beautiful things we create are born from the moments that almost break us.
Love Frequency was born from one of the most difficult chapters of my life.
A chapter marked by heartbreak, grief, profound personal challenges and the kind of emotional exhaustion that leaves you questioning everything you thought you knew about yourself, about love, and about the life you had imagined.
There were moments when I couldn’t find peace. Moments when the weight of everything I was carrying felt impossible to put down. I was navigating loss, uncertainty and the uncomfortable process of letting go of things I had once held so tightly.
And somewhere in the middle of it all, I realised something.
I had spent so much of my life holding space for others that I had forgotten how to hold space for myself.
As a facialist, herbalist and holistic practitioner, my life’s work has been devoted to helping women feel beautiful, nurtured and connected to themselves. Through my hands, my treatments and my practice, I had witnessed the extraordinary relationship between our emotional world and our physical being.
I had seen grief settle into faces. Stress become tension. Heartbreak change the way a woman carried herself.
And I had also witnessed what happened when a woman finally felt safe enough to soften.
But this time, I was the woman who needed healing.
I began to understand that healing isn’t always about fixing what is broken. Sometimes it’s about finding the courage to feel everything, to surrender to what we cannot control, and to slowly find our way back to ourselves.
Not the woman we were before the heartbreak.
But the woman we are becoming because of it.
And then, on what I now think of as one of those beautifully fated days, something shifted.
I was having coffee with my dear friend Maria, who is now the co-creator of Love Frequency.
What began as an ordinary conversation became something quite extraordinary.
We found ourselves speaking with a man about neuroplasticity — the remarkable ability of the brain to change, adapt and form new neural pathways throughout our lives.
We spoke about how our thoughts, emotions, experiences and repeated patterns can shape the way we see ourselves and the world around us. And how, through awareness, intention and new experiences, we can begin to create different patterns.
The conversation turned to the idea of the frequency of love.
And something about those words stopped me.
The frequency of love.
Not simply romantic love. Not the love we spend so much of our lives searching for in another person.
But love as something we can cultivate within ourselves. Something we can return to, even after loss. Even after disappointment. Even when life has taken us somewhere we never expected to go.
The idea that perhaps we don’t have to remain defined by the emotional patterns of our past.
That perhaps we can learn new ways of thinking, feeling, connecting and living.
Maria and I looked at each other, and something clicked.
For some time, I had been developing a treatment called Ascension — a facial ritual centred on lifting, releasing and restoring. But its meaning had always reached far beyond the physical.
To me, ascension was about rising.
Rising beyond the heaviness we carry.
Rising beyond the stories we tell ourselves about what we deserve.
Rising beyond the grief, the fear and the circumstances that have made us forget who we are.
And suddenly, the two ideas came together.
What if we could create an experience that helped women rise back into the frequency of love?
What if we brought together ancient wisdom, modern wellbeing practices, intentional movement, nourishing food, breathwork, sound, stillness and the extraordinary power of women coming together?
What if we created a place where women didn’t have to be strong for anyone?
Where they didn’t have to be mothers, partners, professionals, caregivers or the person who always holds everything together?
Where, for a few precious days, they could simply be themselves.
To rest. To feel. To release. To remember.
And perhaps, for the first time in a very long time, to hear their own inner voice again.
That was the moment Love Frequency was born.
Not as another wellness retreat.
But as an invitation.
An invitation to women who have loved deeply and lost. To women who are exhausted from carrying invisible burdens. To women navigating change, grief, heartbreak, transition or simply the quiet feeling that somewhere along the way, they have become disconnected from themselves.
Love Frequency is for the woman who appears to have everything together, but privately knows something needs to change.
It is for the woman standing at the edge of a new chapter, unsure how to begin.
It is for the woman who is ready to stop merely surviving and start feeling alive again.
I cannot promise that 5 nights will erase years of pain. Healing is not a destination we arrive at on a schedule.
But I believe deeply in the power of creating the right conditions for transformation. In the power of ritual, connection, nature, nourishment and being witnessed without judgment.
And I believe that sometimes, all we need is the space to remember the parts of ourselves that have been waiting patiently to return.
Today, as Maria and I bring Love Frequency to life in Lombok, I understand that everything I have experienced has brought me to this moment.
I didn’t create this retreat because I had all the answers.
I created it because I knew what it felt like to be searching for them.
And because I know there are so many women searching too.
Women who are ready to feel lighter.
Women who are ready to rediscover joy.
Women who are ready to believe that beautiful things can still happen, even after the most painful endings.
If you recognise yourself somewhere in my story, perhaps this is your invitation.
Not to become someone new.
But to return to the woman who has been there all along.
Because the love you’ve been searching for may begin with the love you finally give yourself.
With love,
Vaia x
